Why Use the Packaging Cost + Profit Calculator

Knowing the real cost of packaging is important for any food or product business. Small mistakes in packaging cost can reduce profit without notice. Many sellers only look at pouch price or carton price, but real cost depends on many small parts working together.

The our packaging cost + profit calculator helps you see the full picture in free. It calculates cost per pouch, cost per carton, cost per kilo and selling price. It also shows daily, monthly and yearly profit based on your sales volume. This guide explains how to use the calculator step by step and how to read the results clearly.

What This Calculator Does

This calculator is built for businesses that pack products in pouches and cartons. It works well for food items, powders, grains, snacks, or similar goods.

It helps you calculate:

  • True packaging cost per pouch
  • Total cost per carton
  • Cost per kilogram
  • Selling price based on profit margin
  • Profit per day, month and year

All results update only after you enter your data and click the calculate button.

Step 1: Enter Pouch Material Cost

The first input is Pouch Material Cost (₹/pouch).

Here you enter the cost of one empty pouch. This includes printing, lamination and supplier charges. Enter the value in rupees for a single pouch, not for bulk quantity.

Example:
If one pouch costs ₹1.20, enter 1.20.

This value is later adjusted for wastage.

Step 2: Enter Pouch Filling Weight

Next is Pouch Filling Weight (grams).

This is the net product weight inside one pouch. Enter the value in grams, not kilograms.

Example:
For a 50-gram pouch, enter 50.

This weight is used to calculate cost per kilo and selling price per pouch.

Step 3: Enter Carton Cost and Pouches per Carton

Now fill two carton-related fields.

Carton Cost (₹/carton) means the cost of one outer box. This includes box material and printing if any.

Pouches per Carton is how many pouches fit inside one carton.

Example:
Carton cost: ₹18
Pouches per carton: 24

The calculator divides carton cost across each pouch.

Step 4: Add Secondary Packing Cost

The Secondary Packing Cost (₹/carton) field includes extra items like tape, labels, liners, or manual packing charges.

Enter the total secondary cost for one carton.

Example:
If tape and labor add ₹4 per carton, enter 4.

This cost is added to the carton cost before spreading across pouches.

Step 5: Enter Wastage Percentage

Wastage happens due to pouch damage, sealing issues, or handling loss.

In Wastage (%), enter the expected loss percentage.

Example:
If wastage is around 2%, enter 2.

The calculator increases pouch cost slightly to reflect this loss.

Step 6: Enter Profit Margin

The Profit Margin (%) field sets how much margin you want above cost.

Example:
For a 20% margin, enter 20.

This margin is applied to cost per kilogram to calculate selling prices.

Step 7: Enter Cartons Sold per Day

This field is used only for profit tracking.

In Cartons Sold per Day, enter how many cartons you sell on an average day.

Example:
If you sell 500 cartons daily, enter 500.

This helps calculate daily, monthly and yearly profit.

Step 8: Click Calculate

Once all required fields are filled, click the Calculate button.

If any key field is missing, the calculator shows a message asking you to complete it.

After calculation, the summary section appears with all results.
